Park Tower Wins Construction Renovation Excellence Award

CREW Tampa Bay, takes great pleasure to congratulate Park Tower on being selected as a WINNER for the 8th Annual CREW Tampa Bay Excellence Awards!

Construction Renovation Excellence Award
Park Tower Renovation • Feldman Equities, Tower Realty Partners, City Office REIT, Gensler, and Whiting-Turner

This award honors an organization that played a pivotal role in an interior and/or exterior commercial renovation project which was unique in scale, scope or construction challenges and was successful despite multiple unique complexities.

Renovations are about more than adding paint and shiny amenities. They’re about remaining viable. We proactively spend money to improve office buildings by adding new amenities desired by tenants, lighting to provide a more modern feel and tenant improvements aimed at convincing companies with younger workforces to sign leases. There was so much hidden potential in Park Tower. — Larry Feldman, CEO Feldman Equities

Renovating the main lobby of a building that is occupied and must remain occupied always has its challenges. Staging the renovations so that the safety of the building and its occupants was not compromised took quite an effort. The idea that we were integrating a coffee shop into our lobby was a concept that we had not done before, but we felt that it was important to create a space the entire building and the downtown would be able to enjoy. Integrating a high-end coffee shop into the lobby is similar to what you might see in a hotel. It generates much more life in the lobby versus the typical sterile environment that often typifies an office building lobby.

The building hadn’t been substantially renovated since it opened in 1973. The 2019 renovation and tenant suite upgrades have completely transformed the building.

“The investment of millions in renovating the city’s original high-rise is just further proof of Tampa’s renaissance,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Investments like these do not happen every day but what we’re seeing across the city is that not only can we redefine our skyline with new structures but we can reimagine our skyline with the existing ones.”
